Women empowerment
: The women play crucial role in the family, but they are almost
neglected especially in the rural area. They neither get respect, nor proper care,
not participating in the decision making process in the family matter. The Organization
intends to improve the situation having the objectives of restoration of their rights
and dignity through self help groups. Camps on legal aid & women’s right , Family
life education, Role of women in family , level food security are the main activities |

Promotion
of Self Help groups & Micro-credit delivery: The organization
believes that without economic stability, the question of justice, dignity, sovereignty
and equality is unrealistic to the poor in our society. On the other hand, until
or unless the women are empowered, or are not taking part in the decision making
process in the family, the children who are the backbone of our society will not
get spaces for their age appropriate growth & development. Keeping all the factors
in mind, the organization started Micro-finance through women leaded SHGs as an
instrument for poverty alleviation

Income generation
for small enterprisers: We also provide different
support including financial and technical to them so that they can stand on
|

Skill & technical
training for the rural artisans: For self reliant of the
women, the organization supports the SHGs for the improvement of their existing
skills. The organization has given special emphasized
on minority communities last year. It has formed 136 SHGs and linked
up with Bank for accessing credit facilities in one hand and imparted skill training
on the other for their sustainable livelihoods

Other activities
related to child development and their rights in the target area:
- Awareness on abolish of child labor
- Participate in Pulse polio days
- Organize cultural , games & sports related activities on different occasions
- Advocacy on girl’s child rights
- Observation of National Children’s day
- Education and Nutrition for Orphanage and destitute

Health:
Health awareness is one of the activities which organization
conducts since its establishment. It works for awareness & services for the basic
Health Care to the deprived & needy people in our working areas. A brief picture
of health related activates could be seen as follows:
- HIVAIDS Awareness Camp
- Eye Examination Camp
- General Health checkup Camp

Education:
Empowerment of an individual becomes a reality when the individual
is able to access quality education A brief picture of Education related activates

- Value Based School for the rural poor children
- Street School for Street the Children
- Adult Education Centers

IRDS is supporting some Old Age People Rural areas

Micro Credit |
|
IRDS have been promoted 150 Self Help Groups in Hooghly District,
250 in South 24 Parganas, 50 in Purba Midnapur and 150 in North 24 Parganas on 2009-2010.
All the Froups are Credit linkage with the Indian Bank Nicrosate Branch, Kolkata,
SBI and UBI. We are nurturing the Groups in Various ways as.

Income Generating Programme |
IRDS Works for sustainable income Generation activities
through Micro Finance among the weaker women section.
We provide training in different trade,
management , accounting & Banking. We assist for bank Linkage, account operation,
Minutes, Regulations etc. We also help in preparation of viable banable project
report for SHGS & individual enter premiers. During the year 2009-10 we have formed
more than 500 SHGS in different Dist of West Bengal.
We have been running SHPI (Self Help Promotion
Institution)programme with the financial support of NABARD.

Marketing |
IRDS provides marketing training for the
rural artisans and SHGS.
Self Help Groups pf IRDS are making different Handicrafts and Handloom Products
and for the marketing IRDS participates numbers of exhinitions organized by the
DC (H), NABARD, DIC, CRAFTS BAZAR, GRAM SHREE MELA,JMDC, and NCJD etc.
Our organization also has beem conducted numbers of Handicrafts and Handloom Exhibitions
acrpss the Country with the rural poor Artisans and Self Help Groups.
Keep in the mind of marketing IRDS is going to open one Outlet for the SHGs products.
